Maker's Blanket Skirt
Our collection is small, but we feel, perfectly formed. We are not interested in trends and fads and “fashion”, for us it’s always about style and longevity. So, when we came across some deadstock wools that had come from Germany, we just fell in love, even we felt they didn't work for our dresses. Genuine 1970's stock - the look and feel was just too good to pass by.
We loved labels - look at that handwriting! Just had to share them with you...
As always with our designs, it starts with the fabric - and what we both want to wear. And so, the Maker’s Blanket Skirt was born. The wool fabric is slightly too heavy for dresses, but perfect for a skirt. Featuring our signature quilting on both the waistband and the roomy patch pockets, we wanted the skirts to follow in our ethos of no fuss, easy to wear, comfortable and size inclusive. There are no fittings - just an elasticated section of the waistband at the back... We even managed to source a lovely, soft recycled polyester elastic.
The midi-length (always a favourite of ours) is super flattering and stylish. They are fully lined in 100% cotton and we wear them with vintage cashmere roll necks, arran sweaters, our own quilt waistcoats, knee length boots (channeling our style obsession with all things 'Cagney and Lacey') and they super chic with classic heeled pumps and a silk or cotton blouse.
FABRICWORKS
Thanks to a chat with the wonderful Gracie at AK Threads (do check them out online at www.akthreads.com), we found "Fabricworks". We are delighted to have collaborated with the ladies at this charity, who have lovingly made each individual skirt here in London. A worthwhile social enterprise based in Tower Hamlets, East London, which is dedicated to helping women of diverse backgrounds gain the opportunities to develop their skills and confidence and gain training and employment. They work on real, "live" projects within the industry (such as ours), to gain experience in a supportive, empowering environment. All of the workers are paid the London Living wage and their work is costed accordingly. Fast fashion, this is not. Which makes this limited edition of our 'Makers Skirt' pretty special all round, we think.
Available in 3 different checks and colourways, it's a piece to be cherished and celebrated, and morst importantly, worn.

The Maker's Blanket skirts will be available to buy from our website at 6pm Sunday 21st November.
